More learning - Got invited out to dinner! Counted to 100 a few times by 1 and 10 on the 10 minute drive to Roadhouse Grill. Practiced reading kid's menu: hamburger, macaroni and cheese, and phonetically figure out a chocolate mousse dessert they call "mud cup". Austin was amazed that here was the one place in the universe where you are actually allowed to throw food (peanuts that is) on the floor! Back at home, another 30 second countdown practice for his favorite snack, the beef burrito. Goal: mastery of numbers from 1 to 100. Currently confuses 13 and 30, working on transitions between ranges of 10, although can count to 100 by 10s.

Day 5: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 Austin was up late last night, begging to play more and more Monopoly! We are working on counting by 20s and 500s. Daily morning routine: Go outside. Count to 100 with exercises. Get the paper. Read the date, move a sticker on the calendar to the correct date. Start journal entry for the day. Do diary writing and math exercises.
Day 6: Wednesday, April 24, 2013
Austin created a winged rocket. He counted successfully from 35. He wrote a little story called A Bird's Life. We had friends over for a round of Monopoly using double dice and they were impressed with Austin's counting ability. We went to the library. Austin read the #52 parking space and the #25 parking space and fed the dollar in the meter. The reference librarian let Austin color. Austin checked out books about Star Wars and several videos. In the evening, Austin wrote a few sentences in his journal.
Day 7: Thursday, April 25, 2013 Austin invented a neat way to stack up cookie cutters and he created sock puppets. A turtle, snail, and one and two-eyed monsters! We made pancakes. Studied cooking vocabulary - water, cup, egg, etc. Worked on calendar, finding date from newspaper or on computer. Put sticker on date, write date in journal on each page. Working on writing date Thursday, April 25, 2013 or 4-25-2013. He counted successfully, worked phonics in the evening. Pot, putt, pit, pet, pat.
