Churning Ocean of Milk legend, with Mount Mandara used as the Churning Rod
Prayer for rain.
Piercing the sky with the unicorn horn.
Vishnu's dwarf avatar Vamana pierced heaven with his toe, cracking the cosmic egg
and bringing in the cosmic waters of the Milky Way into the world as the sacred Ganga river,
according to legend. Likewise, this prayer carved on a pottery shard may aim to pierce the sky
to bring down rain and end a drought.
King David wrote sacred name on pottery shard and cast it into the depths to pray for the end of flooding. Then when water subsided too low, successive prayers were made to raise a proper water table level. Talmud, Sukkah 53a-b. Psalms 120-134.
Disintegration phase of Indus society due to drought and 4.2 kiloyear event. Motion towards east from Saraswati to Ganga. Mythological explanations: Drying of the Saraswati due to Brahma's beheading; Saraswati saving world by swallowing fire demon; Tower of Babel aftermath. Language confusion. Deurbanization. Migration away from former homes.
Broken world. See protection #221 from (angry god) above #127. Book of Jasher: arrow-shooting war, attack by tower builders on those in heaven. Bronze age mythological mileu. (Mesopotamian Enki also scrambles language, disperses rebels)
PROTECTION PRAYER. Without the barb or scorpion claw, #221 could be the aspirational lotus of enlightenment blooming
above the surface of the water. Resonant with Tower, aspiring to reach into heaven. #225 hand, helper, friend, mate.
#229 heart, marriage. #228 Churning tug of war, teamwork, partnership, marriage
(Precendent for carving prayer on pottery shards includes Jewish legend about Dome of the Rock.
Name of God inscribed on shards and cast into water to adjust water table. First averted flooding, but was too
low. Sequential castings incrementally raised water to proper level. #TODO add reference from other page))
