The unicorn seal

THE UNICORN SEAL was discovered 1997. It was found at Harappa on Mound F in trench Trench 49E, in the remains of a "grainary" structure with twelve halls. No grain has been found there. Twelve halls may represent a calendar of 12 months. The unicorn seal is dated to approximately 2200 B.C. (Harappa.com).

  • Interpretation: UNITY - UNDIVIDED. Read from head to tail of the unicorn divine animal, it is interpreted, "ADVAITA" meaning undivided in Sanskrit (Advaita (अद्वैत) ).

  • Phonetic complement word structure The word plays with the phonetic complement of the root D-V. Both dve (two) and deva (god) share the D-V root. Two strokes, ||, connote 2 (a duo, the number two, or a pair) and the fish represent gods (deva). (Phonetic complements are employed in Egyptian hieroglyphs).

  • Symbolism: Three fish are each god symbols. The god Vishnu has a fish avatars, and a fish form indicates a being which lives eternally in the primordial ocean. Geometrically, vesica piscis also represents the union of two circles, the synthesis of duality. A fish can represent any god, but specific gods are indicated by certain details. Here, the blank fish is nirguna Shiva (without qualties, transcendent and universal). He is standing next to Jyotirlinga, Shiva's manifestation as an infinite pillar of light. In center is four-armed fish representing the four-armed god Vishnu. The four arms hold his iconic paraphrenalia, the conch, discus, lotus, and mace. Thirdly, there is a fish with a horizontal line. This represents Brahma, who was born of a golden egg. When it cracked open, the top half formed the sky and the bottom, the Earth. He stands next to a chatra, a sacred parasol used by Brahmins, an emblem of spiritual authority. It also which represents covering where the 5th head of ego was cut off. It may also be an entheogenic mushroom, representing revelation and the elixir of immortality.

  • Indus place name discovered? The advaita term, \|| occurs so frequently at Chanhu-daro, that it eminent Indus civilization author Asko Parpola speculated that it is a toponym (Harappa.com slides of seals with the term) of the place. Did the Indus valley people call themselves the Advaitans? 2026-7-12. Hypothesis: the Indus Valley people called themselves the Advaitans, undivided, unified people. Advaitam, unified, as implied in Genesis 11: (The LORD said, Behold the people is One. (and therefore can accomplish anything!))

GOD IS ONE

Other Indus artifacts creatively illustrate in three dimensions how God can have multiple aspects, yet still be one, Advaita. Three-sided prism amulets illustrate the three faces of Trimurti, yet unity of god. The side with four tally marks represents Vishnu, a god with a four-arm manifestation. The prism face with three tally marks symbolizes the god Shiva with three eyes. The water-bearer symbol represents Shiva's cosmic balance and axis role and his labor of bearing the oceanic force of the waters of Ganga falling from heaven, and swallowing poison from the Ocean of Milk in order for others to receive Amrita. (The unicorn tablet refers to the Curse of the Kumaras legend).

Three-sided prism and two-sided fish. One fish, two faces. VISHNU: four arms. SHIVA: shield and arrow, linga and cresent moon; sun in crescent moon OM. One god, multiple faces. The river is one, yet it has two banks. These objects teach to see god reflected everywhere, with many faces in everyone, namaste. Teaches empathy for all.
