FEATURES OF THE REINVENTED DICTIONARY
- RATIONAL DERIVATION. Current dictionaries have etymologies which trace word use to earlier languages, but they lack an ultimate rational justification for the meaning
of words. The new dictionary will trace meaning to elemental pictograms. Word meaning is built up from meta-linguistic first principles which have been reverse-engineered through study of many languages.
- SYMBOLISM OF THE ALPHABET. Letter symbols can be single, or iterated, reflected, nested. For instance, TREE: T is the trunk of a tree, r is a branch, and the letter e is repeated many times to create the green leaves. Dialectical juxtaposition / Self-Paradox. A: approaching, and flowing away from. U: up and under. R is roots, r is branch.
- INTERNATIONAL. The new dictionary will bridge language barriers and feature words in many languages. Readers will be able to appreciate different perspectives of a word. Tree in one language emphasizes height, another branches and roots, another fruits.
- HISTORY. The new dictionary will trace the history of words back further than ever before. The longest lineage words have to do with gods, royalty, military, and prestigious attributes like being large, and first.
- CONSOLIDATION. Common ground can be discovered between languages by consolidating sounds which are variations of each other. The letters T and D are grouped together as dental sounds. B, F, and V are variations of each other. Exotic African clicks and gutteral sounds can be mapped to X or K. Arabic and other Semitic languages distinguish different sounds which will be indexed under the category of A. Certain vowels in French may be transliterated as U. Nevertheless, the uniqueness of the language will be preserved in its native, or technical transliteration form after the simplified universal indexing form.
- CONSERVED TERMS: To help preserve and connect languages, sample dictionaries should include terms from the list below. It is helpful if a numbered concordance is created, with links to use of the words in story, speech, or literature. Place all the terms for a class together and look for comparables. For instance among personal pronouns, the royal We in English, and the wo meaning I in Chiese. A productive strategy for prospecting for the intersection between languages is to consider:

- ONTOLOGY STAR. A concept star will show meaning at a glance. The arms of the star represent the ontological realms of an idea. Any idea can be classified with a number as follows, to enable inference and insight: 0 (potential), 1 (mathematical / geometrical), 2 (physical), 3 (biological), 4 (emotional / psychological), 5 (mental / informational), 6 (social), 7 (economic / logistical), 8 (spiritual / meta-physical), 9 (anomaly / unclassifiable).
- COMPUTABLE DEFINITIONS. Definitions in the new dictionary will be precise enough to be computable. (Digitalthought.info is a proto-type cognitive information system.) For instance, the word "teenager" would be defined: If $subject is "teenager," then 13 <= $subject/age <= 19. The statement, "Jason is a teenager" would write the data Jason/age = "teenager." A time expression processing agent in the language computing software would be designated to handle terms like "teen," and would be smart enough to evaluate specific text and numeric expressions in its domain. The statement, "Austin is 15," would write Austin/age = 15. The system could infer that any adult ($subject/age >= 21) is older than either Austin or Jason. If asked if Jason is older than Austin, the answer would be, "Maybe, I don't know Jason's exact age. Jason is a teenager. Austin is 15 years old. Austin is also a teenager. Do you know how old Jason is?" If the client supplies the age, then the system record the data input (and its source and date stamp) and can answer the question. If not, a research job is initiated, if that task is authorized.

Anything can be represented by a number, or list of

aspects which are secondary. Ideas can have multiple representations. This approach is useful for disambiguation of words with multiple senses.

Did Egypt invent the first, or an early form of moveable type? The earliest hieroglyphs were found on ivory tags at Abydos. They each had a single hole drilled through them. That means that they could be strung together or hung on pegs to compose a message that could be mass reproduced. The tags could be pressed onto clay or seals. Were spells incantations made, or messages sent using signet seal strings or symbol charm bracelets? The composition could be colored with ink and pressed onto fabric or papyrus. The messages could have been passed between accountants for taxation or banking applications. Ivory tag strings could also convey secret messages!
